Northern Hope Dog Rescue Society (NHDRS), a non-profit organization was founded in 2016 by two cousins (DEVON & DANA) as a frontline rescuing mission, when our founder relocated from Nanaimo, British Columbia to a remote community of Northern Saskatchewan to work as a psychiatric nurse. During that time, our founder was faced with the harsh reality dogs in remote communities face.
The direness of the situation was clear from the beginning, and our founder, along with rescue partners within the province were able to save 181 lives in a year from one community alone, while also working alongside community members.
Since Dana returned to Vancouver Island, her love and passion for helping these dogs has remained. NHDRS is now being re-started as an adoption-based rescue, working with frontline rescuers in remote communities to save and adopt out stray and unwanted puppies and dogs on Vancouver Island and on the mainland.
